Mass Defections from Gandujiyya on the Eve of LG Polls

Dozens of former Local council chairmen have defected from Gandujiyya on the eve of the planned Local Government polls coming early next year.

The council men, several of whom visited Kwankwasso in his Abuja residence affirmed their loyalty to the Kwankwasiyya movement which he leads. While most of the council chairmen had been left out of the political equation by loyalists of the serving governor, the defections are shocking in that they point to the nature of the political landscape and the flimsy hold of Gandujiyya over established members of the APC in Kano.

“Many of us are waiting for marching orders to cause havoc in Gandujiyya” says one of the chairman.

Ganduje, who sparked a feud with his former boss last year has been struggling to maintain a hold over both the Government and the ruling party. Loyalists to the governor believe that the local council polls could cement his control over grass root politicians in the state
